Datejust Prices in Our Inventory

Our Datejust bench currently runs from $10,200 to $46,200 across roughly 25 references, the widest spread of any collection we stock. Steel and Rolesor pieces in 36mm and 41mm, the 126234, 126300 and 126334 configurations, fill the middle of that band. Factory diamond bezels start at $29,400 for the 126283RBR and $32,400 for the Everose Rolesor 126281RBR, and the full yellow gold Datejust 31 reference 278278 tops the list at $46,200.

About the Rolex Datejust

The Datejust is the watch Rolex built everything else on. In 1945 it became the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch with a date window, and it has never left production since. It is also the deepest collection we carry: about 25 used Rolex Datejust references in stock across 31, 36 and 41mm, currently from $10,200 in our inventory.

No other Rolex line asks you to make this many decisions. Three case sizes, fluted or smooth or diamond bezel, Jubilee or Oyster bracelet, and a dial catalog that runs from plain silver stick to factory-set diamonds. This page explains how that matrix works and which combinations hold their value best when it is time to trade back in.

The original 1945 reference 4467 packed three firsts into one case: automatic winding, a waterproof screw-down Oyster case, and a date window that advanced automatically overnight, years before the instant midnight jump became standard. The five-link Jubilee bracelet was invented that same year specifically for this watch, named for the 40th anniversary jubilee of Rolex. The Cyclops lens that magnifies the date 2.5 times followed in 1953. Almost every design decision Rolex has made since starts from this template, which is why a Datejust never reads as dated.

The modern lineup splits by movement as much as by size. The Datejust 41 launched in 2016 as the white Rolesor 126334 and in 2017 as the steel 126300, and the Datejust 36 generation from 2019, led by the 126234, both run calibre 3235 with a 70 hour power reserve and a Superlative Chronometer rating of plus or minus 2 seconds per day. The Datejust 31, like our yellow gold 278278, uses calibre 2236 with a Syloxi silicon hairspring. Every current reference is rated to 100 meters, 330 feet, of water resistance.

So which configuration holds value? The safest resale combination we see is white Rolesor with a fluted bezel on a Jubilee, meaning the 126234 in 36mm or the 126334 in 41mm, because that is the picture in people's heads when they hear Datejust. All-steel smooth-bezel 126300s move fast with buyers who want a sportier tool watch. Full gold and factory diamond pieces, like our 278278 and 126281RBR, sell in lower volume but command the strongest price per watch.

The Datejust matrix is exactly why our offices exist. A 36 and a 41 look nearly identical online and completely different on a wrist, and fluted versus smooth is a decision you make in ten seconds in person. Book an appointment at Brickell or Aventura in Miami, or at our Downtown Los Angeles Jewelry District office, and we will line up both sizes and bezel styles side by side from the 25 or so references on hand.

What to Check Before Buying a Used Datejust
Factory diamonds only: look for RBR in the reference

The Datejust attracts more aftermarket diamond work than any other Rolex line. A genuine factory diamond bezel carries RBR in the reference, like our 126281RBR and 126283RBR, with stones set by Rolex to matched specifications. Aftermarket bezels and dials cut resale value hard and complicate future servicing. We verify factory setting on every diamond piece before it enters our inventory.

Know your movement generation before you price it

Datejust pricing tiers follow calibres. Pre 1977 watches on calibre 1560 or 1570 have no quickset, so you set the date by cycling the hands through midnight. Calibre 3035 brought the quickset date in 1977, the 3135 arrived in 1988, and the 3235 from 2016 onward runs 70 hours. Pick your tier first, then compare prices within it.

A Datejust II is not a Datejust 41

Rolex sold a 41mm Datejust II from 2009 to 2016 on calibre 3136, with thicker lugs and a broader bezel. The Datejust 41 that replaced it slimmed the case and brought back a Jubilee option. The II trades at a discount, which makes it a legitimate value play if you want 41mm presence and do not mind the heft.

The bezel and bracelet decide the resale lane

A fluted bezel is white gold even on a steel-cased Datejust, and paired with a Jubilee it is the fastest selling configuration we list. Smooth bezel on Oyster reads modern and appeals to Submariner types. Buy the lane you will actually wear, and keep the original bracelet: on this line the bracelet defines the look, so swaps hurt value.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a used Rolex Datejust cost?

Used Datejust prices in our inventory currently run from $10,200 to $46,200. Steel and Rolesor 36mm and 41mm references sit in the middle of that band, while factory diamond and full gold pieces top it.

How do I know a used Datejust is authentic?

Every Datejust we sell passes an independent authentication review before it is listed. We check the rehaut engraving, the 2.5x Cyclops magnification, the movement and serial, and whether any diamond work is factory or aftermarket, the most common issue on this line.

Where can I buy a used Rolex Datejust in Miami or Los Angeles?

We sell used Rolex Datejust watches by appointment at our Brickell and Aventura offices in Miami and our Downtown Los Angeles Jewelry District office. We accept cash, Zelle, wire and crypto, and ship free insured FedEx Priority Overnight anywhere in the US.

Is the 36mm or 41mm Datejust better?

Pick 36mm for the proportions the Datejust has kept since 1945, and 41mm for modern wrist presence. Both current generations run calibre 3235 with a 70 hour reserve, so the choice is purely about wrist size and taste.

Does the Rolex Datejust hold its value?

Yes, the Datejust holds value well, but configuration matters more than on any other Rolex. Fluted bezel Jubilee Rolesor and clean steel references resell fastest, while aftermarket diamonds or a swapped bracelet drag prices down.

Jubilee or Oyster bracelet on a Datejust?

The five-link Jubilee was created for the Datejust in 1945 and remains its signature; the three-link Oyster wears sportier and stiffer. On vintage pieces, check the Jubilee for stretch, since its older hollow links wear faster.

Can you swim with a Rolex Datejust?

Yes, a modern Datejust is water resistant to 100 meters, 330 feet, with the Twinlock crown screwed down. Have a vintage example pressure tested before swimming, because gaskets age even when the watch runs perfectly.
